When choosing a colour for your exterior painting project, it is always a good idea to keep your neighbours in mind. If your house has the same architecture of the neighbours’ house and you paint it the same colour, it will not stand out and will probably make your neighbours unhappy that you copied them. It is always a good idea to paint the exterior in a colour that you like if you plan on living in the house for a long time. However, if you are planning on moving in a few years and it doesn’t suit the neighbourhood, you might want to reconsider the colour choice. If your idea is to stand out, and you are staying for a long time, then choosing a bold colour might be what you want to do.

Colour choice is key if you are selling your home. It is best to keep the colour in a neutral pallet if you are planning on selling. If your house is the only bright coloured house on the block, the buyer may or may not like the colour choice. They might do one of two things, ask for a reduction in price because of the bold colour choice that you have made or not buy the house because of the colour. You want to make sure you don’t give the buyers those options. Paint it in a current palette and you won’t have that objection.
